Until 31st July of 2011, the Cyber999 Help Centre, run by CyberSecurity Malaysia, recorded 8,695 security incidents ranging from malicious software attacks, hacking, information theft, spam and other cyber security incidents. This represents a sharp rise, 138% from the same period of 2010 (Jan – July 2010: 3,648 incidents). In fact, this is higher than the whole year of 2010, where a total of 8090 incidents were recorded. The numbers confirm the continued upward trend of cyber security threats in the country.
